Understanding real people

Exploring how people live and work can aid fresh thinking and innovation. In particular, discovering how people actually interact with products and services can challenge assumptions.

Individual Interviews: 1-1 structured talk

One-to-one interviews provide information about an individual's actions, approach and motivations, which is difficult to elicit from a group discussion.

This method is an important complement to focus group work. It is important that questions are open and work as prompts and it is very good for discussing sensitive issues such as personal hygiene. The interviewer must be skilled and sensitive.
